Queclink GV500 is an OBDII tracker that easily plugs into vehicle's diagnostic port. Thanks to sensitive GNSS chip from u-blox, A-GPS technology and two GNSS antennas it provides accurate location and reliable tracking. The device supports all major OBDII protocols and delivers much of the information from vehicle's diagnostic systems.

Location and tracking

GV500 comes with modern GNSS chip from u-blox, which has high sensitivity and receives signals of GPS, GLONASS and other systems. Besides it supports Assisted GPS (A-GPS) technology for faster location acquiring. To provide even better sensitivity the device is embedded with two GPS antennas (for manufacture dates starting from December 2015). The second antenna serves as a backup in case the main antenna does not perform well in some specific situations (OBDII trackers are often placed under the wheel’s column where GPS signals are weaker). All of these give a positive impact on the quality of tracking.

As for the tracking modes, they are fully adjustable: by time and distance intervals, direction change. The device has power saving modes and well detects the movement status according to the Ignition stat (PIN #1) and smart proprietary algorithm based on internal G-Sensor.

OBDII diagnostic data

Queclink GV500 reads a lot of data from an vehicle’s diagnostic system. The tracker supports many standards (J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW, ISO 9141-2, ISO 14230, ISO 15765, J1939, CAN_USER1, CAN_USER2 and VW TP2.0) and on this criterion is considered one of the best OBDII devices. With Gv500 you can retrieve the following information:

  • Fuel level
  • Fuel consumption
  • Dashboard speed
  • Coolant temperature
  • Throttle position
  • Engine load
  • VIN – Vehicle Identification Number
  • and other

It also provides information about MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp – Check Engine) and DTC error codes.

Events detection

The number of detected events far exceeds the typical amount for OBDII trackers. GV500 hardware and firmware process such events as Tow, Harsh driving (braking, cornering, acceleration), Long idling (with engine working), Detach from OBDII socket, Low external power voltage, Low backup battery, Signal jamming and others.

Power supply

Advanced power management helps to provide lower power consumption and that device can work for many hours even in active mode.

    By the end of 2015 Queclink has upgraded GV500 to version 0x36:
    – Changed chipset: MT6223D @ 52MHz => MT6261A @ 260MHz
    – Added additional GPS antenna (now it has 2 embedded antennas)
    – Changed GSM antenna from PCB to Spring
    – Backup battery capacity decreased from 250 mAh to 130 mAh
    – OBDII pins increased from 9 to 12

    Generally speaking, the main advantage of the latest modification is its increased GPS sensitivity. Since OBDII trackers are often installed under the wheel’s column, it’s highly important. With A-GPS, one main and one spare GPS antennas it’s probably the best in signal reception.
